Presence not updated upon login(using Winjab 0.97 / 1.1)

A good day to you all. i am currently testing wildfire 2.4.4. It seems that the presence info is not updated when i log on using winjab 0.97 / 1.1. i get the ff XML debug info upon logging on:

…i think the more significant info is the “freature-not-implemented” portion.

i don’‘t observe the same behavior with other jabber clients though, e.g. exodus, spark. i’‘m guessing that it’‘s somehow caused by winjab being reasonably old/obsolete. However, the powers that be aren’'t too keen about upgrading the few hundred workstations with a new client, since they figure it would cause some “lost man hours” and “retraining”.

i was wondering if there is a workaround for this. Thanks!

this seems to be a developer issue. The “Custom presence type” thread

http://www.jivesoftware.org/community/thread.jspa?threadID=17778 describes a similar problem and it seems to be very hard to get this solved.

The solution - if one can be found - could lead to a non-standard XMPP server, just like some browsers which accept and display every mal-formed HTML.
