Problem finding my users in AD, server 2008

Hello all,

I’m testing the latest versions of Openfire/Spark for the first time in an AD environment. DC is running server 2008. I’m installing Openfire in a 2003 box. I’m having a problem in the second step of profile settings. On the first step, I successfully connected to the DC using the following settings:

Server Type: Active Directory

Host: svr-david Port:389

Base DN: cn=Users;dc=domain,dc=org

Administrator DN: cn=Administrator,cn=Users,dc=domain,dc=org

Password: XXXX

On step number two of Profile Settings, Openfire cannot find any users using the following settings:

Username Field: sAMAccountName

Name {cn}

email {mail}

etc…(default values)

Can somebody give me an idea how to get past this?

Thanks in advance,

After entering the information on step 1 did you try clicking the “Test” button?

Hello Mithrilhall,

Yes I did, but it would not be successful.

The problem was that I was not using an authorized account as the administrative account. I don’t know why Server 2008 would not take the built-in Administrator account. As soon as I changed to a different account, it all worked. Openfire/Spark is working great and it has been agreat success with all my users.
