So heres a quick rundown of my situation. I have two groups, group 1 is called ALL and contains everybody on the server, group 2 is called HelpDesk and only the members of the helpdesk are in this group.
I want everybody to be able to see the helpdesk group so I set the Show group in all users’’ rosters. This works great, everybody can see the whole Helpdesk roster.
The ALL group I would like to be visable to just the member of the Helpdesk group. When I select to make the group viewable to just the following groups and only select Helpdesk everybody in the ALL group can see everybody else in the ALL group. That is what I’‘m trying to avoid. Is this possable? Or am I looking to do something that just isn’'t possible?
I have run into this issue with 3.0.1 and also with the 3.1.0 beta 2 that i downloaded on the 16th.
It may that the site you link there has the answer and I’‘m just missing it but from what I see on that screen it seems to show the same problem I’‘m having but I didn’'t see a fix.
It seems to indicate that it would be fixed in the 3.1.0 beta however when I try to enable any group sharing in 3.1.0 after I save the options the roster option defaults back to disabled every time.
it seems that Matt Tucker did close this issue without to change anything. So the documentation is still wrong, and if it displays “and” then you will no longer try to make a shared group invisible for the members any more. Anyhow there is as far as I know another feature request to change it like everybody want’'s it to work, but not for 3.1.0.
We totally overhauled the group UI. Ryan did the work over a period of days and didn’‘t know about the filed issue. So, that’‘s why there is no JIRA number in SVN. I think the issue is still fixed, though. Let me know if you don’'t agree.
I agree, it’'s now more obvious that one will share the group with other users/groups.
But the new group page uses 90% English and only 10% i18n / German so I have a lot of difficulties to understand how to “einen Administrator hinzufügen” (;
