RSS Gateway

Hi,

i downloaded and installed the new version of your RSS Gateway. But it is listed under the plugin tab at the admin console as version 1.0 and it ain`t working.

Same problem like in the previous version.

1.0.2 version not working for me. Openfire 3.3.0 Beta 1

hi wroot,

Anything in the logs? What database are you using? Did you upgrade or do a fresh install? What exactly isn’'t working?

Havent checked logs yet. Embedded-db. Fresh install. I’'m trying to send help message to feeds@myservername

Nice plugin, I’'ve been looking for this for some time, glad to see it. I have to say this was easy for me to set-up, drop and go really

I am wondering if there is any way to impliment this plugin such that it doesn’'t deliver updates that occurred while the user was offline?

For instance, to test it I subscribed to http://news.google.com/news?ned=ca&topic=h&output=rss last night, since this is likely one of the busier feeds available. When I logged back in this morning I recieved all of the updates which had occured while I was offline.

As a sort of feature request it would be nice to be able to configure it such that it only delivers changes to the feeds which occur while I am logged in - either at the server or per user would work in my case.

I’'ll see what I can do about that, I think it can be done.

AJ

I running Openfire 3.2.4 an the Plugin does not run.

I can add a Fedd, but the bot is not deliver the added Feed to the Client. the second thing is, it is not possible for me to administer the feed. there is no option to adjust the Plugin.

after each restart of the Plugins I find the following in the log: +Found old database version 1 for instantFeed. Upgrading to version 2…+ +Database update successful.+

any idea?

Hi wroot,

just for the information, I have the same problem. The problem is, the plugin hasn’'t made the changes for openfire, it still uses wildfire-packagenames, so there are classcastesceptions during the deployment.

I updated the package names two nights ago, I haven’'t had a chance to do a formal release, but if you want to check it out from svn:

svn://svn.cephas.net/instantfeeds/trunk

AJ

I really would like

But I noticed some problems:

  • how do I build the plugin, do I have to copy the svn-repository into the openfire directory?

  • the servlet.jar is missing in your lib-directory

  • the commions-httpclient.jar is missing in your lib-directory

or am I doing something completely wrong?

before i give the plugin a new chance (i’'d realy like to see it running is the new version (1.0.2) compatible with openfire 3.3.0?

(If i’'m telling something false, please correct me)

The version 1.0.2 is compiled for wildfire (the imports and packagenames contain wildfire) it won’'t run on Openfire.

You would have to use the svn-version.

thx

That issue should be fixed in 1.0.2.

Cheers,

AJ

I released a new version tonight which has the correct package names (openfire instead of wildfire), a couple new features, and I think / hope fixes some of the database issues you guys have all been seeing:

Nice job Aaron. I’'ve been playing with it. Is the following a normal behavior or a bug?

hi bundy,

That’‘s a bug: I’'ll test it out against the feed you have to see if I can replicate it. Thanks for pointing it out!

AJ

I provide RSS and Atom notifications via IM. If you subscribe to a feed, each time that site’‘s feed is updated, you’'ll receive an IM from me with the changes.

To communicate with me, you send short instant messages, I understand the following commands:

subscribe url Subscribes to the feed at url

unsubscribe url Unsubscribes from the feed at url

list Shows all the feeds you’'re subscribed to

Some commands will require confirmation before they work. You’'ll get a URL to click on to verify that you want to perform the action.

Maybe you can name your plugin like Instant Feeds, so it wount stay at the bottom of plugins list in Admin Console, i think it’'s because first i is not capital. And there should be a space between instant and feeds words to preserve Plugins page style.

P.S. 1.0.3

launching server for a seconf time i see in launcher window:

Openfire 3.3.0

I don’'t know what is going wrong, because everything is in place, but the "org.htmlparser.util.ParserException: Error in opening a connection to " looks wrong.
