I was wondering if there is any reason why I cannot start multiple instances of JM on one machine? Has anyone done this?
If there are issues, is there any way to do it?

It should work fine. You just need to use different ports for each instance or bind to different interfaces.

Would I need multiple installs, or can i use the same install for the multiple instances?

Currently, you would need multiple installations since the configuration files are stored with each installation.
