I am wondering if you can connect 2 Wildfire servers via IP address and not with DNS. I have remote offices that I want to connect back to HQ.

IE user1@111.111.111.111 instead of user1@im2.somedomain.com

Hey, wildfire set the server name equals to name of the machine domain name.

If you set the server name to your IP, wildfire auto change it to your machine name.

Configure your LMHOSTS if you´re using windows or your HOSTS if Linux.

You just have to tell your server1 machine that the name of the server2 resolve the server2 IP and vice-versa.
