Security question on voice call

Hi everybody,

I’m a newbie and as far i understood when you make a voice call openfire uses jingle to establish the communication , so i’ve read that jingle will use the openfire server to get information about the two users and to negotiate that communication, and after that a p2p connection between the users will occur and the voice packets will be sent directly between the users, so is there any security over that p2p communication ?? i mean i know that chats are protected by the certificates and uses SSL/TLS so what happend with voice communications ?

I hope someone answer my question… thank you

I have been told that any p2p chat (audio or video) is not secure unless supported by the clients. This makes some amount of sense as the server is not involved in the delivery of the datastream.
