Send instant message from SQL

Hello,

I am new in wildfire… It’'s possible to send instant message from SQL ?

Edva

Hi Edva,

it is possible to add offline messages for a user via SQL and hope that they will be delivered as Wildfire caches a lot of the database content. It is not recommended to try this, Jive Software offers a nice client API Smack which allows you to do this if you write a few lines of code.

Hi it2000,

Yes I found that when inserting records into table jiveOffline, the message would be delivered to the user. But only when the user comes Offline and then back Online. If the user is online the message i’'ll think not to be delivered.

Thank You for SMACK. I have downloaded Smack, but still don’'t understand how make that he worked for me. The smack.jar file even do not opening.

Hi Edva,

you probably need read the Smack documentation and you need a java compiler (JDK) to compile the program you write. Smack and three* lines of code are enough to send a message:

XMPPConnection connection = new XMPPConnection("jabber.org");
connection.login("mtucker", "password");
connection.createChat("jsmith@jivesoftware.com").sendMessage("Howdy!");

Hi it2000

Thank You. I have read documentation, also installed JDK and NetBeans IDE. But got the following error:

‘‘class’’ or ‘‘interface’’ expected.
