Setting up a chat service

I just installed openfire to setup a chat service for my group of students.

I installed it, but I am not sure how to setup chat services. Where is the documentation for it?

Also, we plan to using pidgin to access the server, are there any better clients for chat rooms?

I installed it fine. That was easy, but how do I setup chat service?

For example, I have 30 users who want a chat feature. They are all using pidgin. I didn’t see any documentation about actually configuring Openfire. I seen docs to install it.
