Is there any planning to run the SIP plugin again? This was a fairly interesting feature of openfire / spark, it’s a shame it was not working anymore.

No plans and no solution. There are no developers working on Spark, so there can’t be any plans. SIP is an old plugin which uses some obsolete code that doesn’t run well with Smack 4 library and it is not even building with the new Maven building setup (for 2.9.0). So, i feel SIP is probably dead for good. Unless some experience developer will provide patches for it and will make it available as Maven artifact.
