On Jabber.org smack is listed as being for both client and component development (http://www.jabber.org/developer/librarylist.php). As I look at the API it seems to be geared towards client develoment. Are there plans to include more APIs to help in component implementations? Specifically, I am wanting to be able to replace the xdb component for one of my own that talks to my own backend db. Can smack presently be used to do so, or are there any plans to implement this capability?

Smack is really intended for client development. However, it can also be used on the server for things like writing chatbots, etc. I’‘m not quite sure what you’‘re looking for with the xdb stuff, but it’'s likely that Smack may not be the best fit.
