Spark vs Google Talk

I was curious to compare Spark vs Google Talk and found some interesting results…maybe someone could shed some light on it:

When testing the file transfer, Google was much faster compared to Spark. I did use my google account through Spark…so I’'m wondering if that caused the speed difference.

Anyone take a stab…

Hi Alex N,

I’‘d like to compare too, but how do you even get gtalk to work on Spark? I can’'t seem to get it configured.

I’'m using the Spark client…with my google account info (gmail server).

…does the speed difference have anything to do with the path…inband/outband

server = gmail.com

click on the advanced button in the login screen.

uncheck the “Automatically discover host and port”

Host = talk.google.com

Port = 5223

Use OLD SSL = checked

What exactly was faster? Download negotiation or download itself? Maybe Spark is trying some mechanism that are not supported in Gtalk, so it takes longer to start a download. Anyway, Spark is designed to be Openfire part, not just woirk with any xmpp service.
