I did just enter “speedd” as the first and only word and did click “ABC” and then it did display “peedd” - so the first character was gone. This is even worse for longer posts and seem to occur often but not always after newline characters.
If one wants to edit a word the popup does appear at the right position unless one uses the right browser scroll bar - if one uses it and scrolls the page down than it is displayed somewhere on top of the page, so it is a common JS problem with differnt browsers.
Also the design is also destroyed as the checked content is displayed on another position than the entered content, but this is a minor problem.
Thanks for the detailed bug report - I’'ll try and reproduce and fix the issue. The scrollbar issue is unique … it should be quite interesting to fix that one

Can you clarify what you mean by the design being destroyed?
When you were typing that message did you mistype ‘‘bttter’’ originally and then correct it? I think you might have and it’‘s the delete that is causing the spell checker to get out of sync with the source text. I thought I reproduced the issue once in typing this reply however I’‘m having a hard time reproducing the issue. In any case you’‘ll be glad to know that firefox 2.0 is coming with a built in spell checker which is pretty nice - I’'m using an alpha right now to test it out. Odd that it highlights ‘‘firefox’’ as being a typo though
I’‘m sure that I did never enter bttter but maybe I did edit a word before better. It may be a good idea to enter just one word like “better”, spell check it and see that it is ok. Then prepend "aaa " so the post gets “aaa better” and check it again. Then delete "aaa " and enter “a” so the posts get “abetter” and then you may find “a” or “b” as a misspelled word. I’'m not sure that deleting characters is the problem but one can reproduce it doing this.
