We are using an MS SQL database with our OpenFire installation. The database server is due to be upgraded, how do I point OpenFire to the new server? All databases details are identical, the database has been backed up on the old server and then restored to the new one. I have tried changing the Openfire.xml file to point to the server but this did not seem to work. Any ideas?
You need to first stop the server, then edit the openfire.xml, then start the server. If that does not work then you have an issue unrelated to openfire. Such as DNS or duplicate names for the database servers.
