"Standalone" installation vs. Tomcat

Hi,

I’'m installing Wildfire for a client.

Everything’‘s going OK so far - it’'s installed and running using bin/wildfire start but not yet configured.

The platform is FC4 so I plan to setup the init scripts to start the server automatically.

My question is: What are the advantages of running wildfire under Tomcat? Or should I just stick with the “standalone” install?

Thanks,

R.

Hi Robin,

The Tomcat installation is nice for organizations that want to leverage their existing Tomcat installation. In such cases, the organization probably has a dedicated machine, backups, etc., in place that Wildfire could then take advantage of. However, if an organization doesn’'t already have Tomcat in place there would be no real advantage to installing it just for Wildfire to use.

Hope that helps,

Ryan

Ryan,

Thanks - standalone it is then.
