As noted my sparkweb was configured with the default port setting of 5222–which is what we use for spark or other external client connections.
My firewall had my webserver NAT’ed to an external IP e.g 111.111.111.8 and forwards ports 80 and 443. My firewall also had my openfire server NAT’ed to an external IP e.g. 111.111.111.10 and forwards ports 5222, 5223, 7777.
your FQDN and external IP should match up assuming DNS is correctly configured.
i’m not sure if http-binding or the configuration involved would affect your external access to sparkweb. i don’t use http-binding. mtstravel is the expert.
You do not need to use the http-bind, but it is less prone to errors in a nat environment.
You need to enter the data as it is asked for. The username is the part of your JID in fron of the @ symbol. Server should be autopopulated from your index.html file but if not enter its FQDN or IP address, password… well that should be easy.
Thanks for the compliment but I am by no means an expert… and Tag
I wish I had access to the firewall. I’m positive it has to be a firewall issue at this point. I have everything working internally, with a couple different setting combinations that we have discussed and it always ends up working internally.
My firewall guy swears the 7070 port is open, but I’m beginning to not beleive him.
