This is by far the easiest IM server to install - can this be made easier by enabling admin console controlled upgrades to the server - instead of downloading and re-installing and re-configuring the DB connections?

as long as you don’'t uninstall the current installation your settings in conf/wildfire.xml should not be deleted. As it is a little bit complicated to do this as one must stop and start Wildfire so that the new JAR files are used it will take a little bit until this feature is offered.
One can still hope that Jivesoftware will use JVMTI to update the server while it is running without restart. But I expect that such an update process will cost some peanuts.
