Upgrading Problems

Hey All,

I was running 2.2.1 and just upgraded to 2.2.2 using rpm -U and the install overwrote my existing jive-messenger.xml file.

Is this supposed to happen and does the rpm upgrade make a backup copy of that file??

Help me!! I don’'t want to have to go through the entire LDAP reconfig issue again!!

Thanks

-Stevo

In my experience (in Windows), JM installer will replace conf/jive-messenger.xml. I though it will do the same thing in Linux installation. What I did before installing/upgrading JM, I backed up conf/jive-messenger.xml and restore it after installation/upgrading process is completed.

In my experience (in Windows), JM installer will

replace conf/jive-messenger.xml.

This is fixed for the upcoming 3.0 release now. It will warn you and ask if it should overwrite the existing conf file.

I haven’'t had a chance to test to see if the Windows fix applies to Linux RPM as well, but will try to do that soon.
