I just went back to using Openfire (from ejabberd). Version 4.2.3 on OpenSUSE Leap 15.1.
None of my online users show up in the buddy lists of my xmpp clients (Adium, Pidgin). They do show as online in the Openfire server admin GUI. Is there some setting I must use to let users be visible to other users?
By “not showing as online” do you mean showing as offline or not showing at all? In the latter case you may need to add them manually to your roster and have them to approve your requests. Or you can create a group, add users to it and share that group with everyone.
