server with Ubuntu Linux 6.10 and Openfire 3.3.1, clients Mac OS 10.3.9 and 10.4.9 and Adium 1.0.4
users can login and are shown in the admin console as online, but others cannot see them. does not matter if in the LAN or for users from a remote server and chat messages are not delivered to recipients.
