Using Active Directory for authentication

Please can anyone answer me the question if AD can be

used for autehtication of users (not for storing the

data).

On the jabber.org page this feature is listed but I

can’'t find out how I can configure it …

If this is not possible, will this get in one of

the next releases ?

somm,

Yes, AD can be used for authentication. There is no documentation around this yet, but we hope to add it for the official 2.0 release. We’‘re getting quite close to that release, so I hope your wait on this feature isn’'t very much longer!

One thing you could try – if you look at the config file. It has commented out sections for connecting to LDAP (what you’'d want to use). You might try experimenting with those settings before the docs are available.

Matt

This sounds good to me. Hope the 2.0 version will be

available soon so I can try out this feature …

I have also tried to get the LDAP settings up and

running using the old version but had no luck …

this feature is inside in jive_messenger_2_0_1.tar.gz ?

LDAP support is broken at the moment, but will be fixed in the near future.

Do you have an approximate date when ldap will be fixed?

I’'ve recently tested out version 2.0.1. I am thrilled with the admin interface and the ease of installation versus other xmpp/jabber servers. The features that will allow for a successful deployment are ldap support (we use openldap) and the feature mentioned in another thread that relates to having all accounts automatically added to the contact list of each account. Thanks for all you excellent work.

We hope to have it fixed within the next week, as part of 2.0.2.

Glad to hear it!

Be sure to vote for JM-22 then.

Thanks for the timely response. I placed my vote.
