VOIP on Linux for 2.5.0 beta4?

Firstly, I have been researching VOIP/IM clients for Java for the past 2 months and am very impressed with the quality of Spark and Openfire. The websites are very informative, the documentation is good and I was up and running with IM in a matter of minutes. Well done!

Now for the not so good part, I am trying to get the voice calls in Spark working on Linux. Following on from another post in this forum I have modified the server.xml in jingle.jar to include Linux in the list of supported OS’'s. I now get a “Place phone call” button in Spark and when I click on it I get a confirmation dialog on the person I am calling which I accept. Spark then says “Voice chat started on…” but nothing else happens from this point.

Is this functionality that is known not to work? Or am I missing something?

BTW - I am a Java/Linux developer with quite a bit of experience using the JMF to capture and transmit audio on Linux so if you need any help in this area maybe I can provide some assistance…

Did you ever get this working?

I’m trying to do exactly the same thing, but I’m not sure how to go about it.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Tom.
