You can right click contact in Spark roster and check its activity.
I would like to change group chatting behavior:
currently when I’m closing group chat window I’m lossing all msgs till I open group chat window again.
The best solution from my perspective is bring group chat window back if new msg comes (even it was previosuly closed)
Acceptable solution is displaying warrning when closing window (preventing close it by mistake)

Have tested one ICQ client recently and it wasnt closing tabs after closing main chat window. That was very annoying and unusual to me. So there could be more perspectives. Closing means closing to some people. So this should be optional anyway.
I see your point but meaning of “closing” depends of the way how you are using group chatting.
In my company we are using this for team’s discussion and nobody of 20+ members likes current Spark behaviour…
Often happens some of us close window by mistake and loosing all msgs sent to team and cannot respond
So it would be great if you can add this as option in Spark / conference preferences.
What do you think?
It’s not really the softwares fault if you click the X, receiving messages once the group chat has gone seems illogical in my opinion. The only other thing to do is ask the user if they are sure if they want to close that chat window.

I’m not the one who can add this WinSrev can. I dont mind new options/features being added as long as high priority fixes and features are done before. This option you want won’t be highly demanded i think. What about making your custom Spark build?
I thought about own version but I’m not very familiar building java apps
I though it is quite easy to add just confirmation dialog if you really want to close chat window…

oh, this works only with offline users…
Searching words inside chat history would be also very useful!
This is planned for Spark 2.6.1
I like to see the VCard content is not hard coded. Its content should be an XML file provided by VCard provider(eg, JDBC provider). Spark just show the XML in a certain way. For example,
<card>
<card name="Tab 1>
<property name=“A” value=“B”/>
<property name=“C” value=“D”/>
</card>
<card name="Tab 2>
<property name=“A” value=“B”/>
<property name=“C” value=“D”/>
</card>
</card>

What do you mean by “hard coded”? Spark is pulling and storing VCard on the server as i know.
File sharing in rooms is very important !!
File sharing in rooms based on XEP-0214: File Repository and Sharing
Any estimation when release 2.6.1 is planned?
I would love to see the voice conference feature in Spark windows version if possible.
It is like a conference between ‘n’ number of people where all the people part of conference should be able to hear the person addressing and comment if required.
No idea, don’t even have an estimate for 2.6.0, i guess you’ll just have to sit back and relax
right now, we are trying to get rid of a small old app called WhereRyou. When somebody leaves the office, they can say, “im out for 2 hours” the software also shows when they signed out, and when they returned. It allows the secretary to also log them out. This is used to organize many things around here.
We made some custom Away Messages, and pushed them out to all. When you mouse over a user name in spark, if the popup window could show the timestamp of when they went away, plus the return time there. -that would be very usefull
other things we are looking into:
-SMS for techs in the feild to send/recieve.
-small button for “help desk” that will launch remote support app.
delecti, these are interesting features (some of them already suggested in that thread, as changing away for other users, remote helpdesk integration). But i really doubt that will ever be implemented in Spark. Firstly because it has only 1.5 developers working on (1.0 of them not a Jivesoftware developer, doing this in spare time). Secondly, these features are too uncommon for simple IM messenger.
Ok, ok, this was already talked out. Someone wants remote helpdesk. Yes, someone needs it a lot. But not everyone. So in that cases someone has to search for different product or develop it themselves. Personally i dont like the idea to have bloated n in 1 product with 80% features i wont use. Spark has support for plugins. I have tested shared whiteboard plugin. So it has some potential.
As about changing away status of other persons. I have already commented such idea. This would probably need developing on server side too. And this is too specific to be incorporated in the main Spark product and can create some security problems. So i can only suggest to find a coder and to write plugins or modify Spark for your needs. This is Open Source after all.
UPD: it seems delecti was talking only about shortcut to some other app. Dont know, could be simple. But only via plugin, cause most of the users won’t need that button.
hard coded – I meant that the structure and property semantics are hard coded, not their values. I hope that a provider can define a XML schema, and Spark can show any data. For example, a user’s hobbies in VCARD.
