Which code base to use for developing spark? latest trunk or 2.5.8 version

Is the latest build quite stable? what are the new features added compared to 2.5.8 version?

I prefer some stable code base to work on if there is no important new features.

You need to remember that the latest SVN is intended for development, the majority of the time it wont be stable.
