Which MySQL installer for Windows 2008 R2?

On MySQL site I see two Windows installers:

  • Windows (x86,32-bit) MSI Installer 5.5.16
  • Windows (x86,64-bit) MSI Installer 5.5.16

This will run on Windows 2008 R2.

Should I be using the 64 bit or 32 bit?

Windows Server 2008 R2 only comes in 64-bit form so you want the 64-Bit installer

you can tell the arcitecture by right click computer and choosing properties under the System heading there is System Type this tells you if its 32-bit or 64-bit
