Is there any way to create groups inside of groups?

there is a XEP describing nested groups. I think this is what you are looking for. Have a look to the following URL:

And I suppose Wildfire supports such a feature.

within Spark you can create a group “foo” and a group “foo::bar” to have a nested bar group.

I am looking for creating groups within Wildfire so that the users have standard group names instead of everyone having different names.

so you may want to set the “contact list group name” to “foo::bar” within Wildfire to get the same effect within Spark.
