Xiff 2/bosh?

With the introduction of XIFF 3 beta, is the XIFF 2 project effectively dead? For various reasons, we still need to use Actionscript 2 for our application, and therefore are stuck using XIFF 2 for probably quite some time. I had actually come very close to getting a BOSH connection working with XIFF 2, but was told that you guys were working on that already so I shelved it. I didn’t realize that it was going to be AS3 only.

My question is this: Does Openfire 3.4.5 (or 3.5.0) fully support BOSH 1.6 (non-polling)? There was a thread a while back discussing some of the issues, but I don’t know if the fixes ever got merged into the official tree: http://www.igniterealtime.org/community/message/162210

If the server has been updated to support the new 1.6 BOSH spec, I would be glad to contribute my XIFF 2 updates for supporting HTTP Binding in what could be a “final” XIFF 2 release.

I’m not even sure where the XIFF 2 repository is, to be honest. I can look into getting your changes merged in though, since I do see the value in having it for people stuck using AS2. Openfire doesn’t yet support the most up to date BOSH spec, but we do have plans in that direction.

Awesome, I’ll probably wait to finish the modifications until Openfire fully supports the latest BOSH spec, that way I can test them more confidently. I certainly wish we could move onto AS3, but porting our chat application from AS2 is definitely not at the top of our priority list right now Thanks for the quick reply!

BenV,

Since I can’t seem to find the source, or a repository, for XIFF 2 any more, could you send me a copy of the source (& documentation, if you have it)?

Thanks,

Mark Josef
