XMPP Domain in OpenFire

Hi,

We have an OpenFire server setup with mostly default settings, including the default XMPP domain (set to the hostname of the machine).

We have tried to change the XMPP domain to something else and it appears to do a DNS lookup to look for this domain. We can register this domain, or configure DNS accordingly to point this domain at the correct place, but we are unsure of where this should point in all scenarios. For a single server setup, we can obviously just point it straight at that server, however we are looking to setup a cluster (using HazelCast) and are unsure of where the DNS should resolve in this scenario as there will be two or more servers using the same domain.

Is the above setup possible or are we misunderstanding the purpose of the XMPP domain?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Phil
