2.6.0 installation problems

We installed 2.6.0 for evaluation, but did not get very far due to connection and encrypted password problems similar to those mentioned in other recent threads.

Where can 2.5.1 be found for downloading?

Thanks in advance.

–Art Sarkissian

Anything like this should work:

http://www.jivesoftware.org/download-landing.jsp?file=builds/wildfire/wildfire_2 _5_1.exe[/url]

I think we can replace the numbers to get even earlier versions.

We installed 2.6.0 for evaluation, but did not get

very far due to connection and encrypted password

problems similar to those mentioned in other recent

threads.

What about telling about your problems and helping getting rid of them? You say “similar”, so not the same problems? What problems with encrypted passwords? I have turned plain passwords on after upgrade because i dont need it. But some people do need encrypting, so you can help them a lot telling about problems before they hit it themselves.

Connection problems?

2.6.1 should be out tomorrow, fixing mentioned problems. Gato said they are constantly improving performance of server and as i have weak hardware and growing userbase i have to upgrade “at any cost” I mean, if you are interesting in performance improvement, so you should upgrade. And of course cant forget backups.

Certainly:

After installing Wildfire 2.6.0 in our Redhat + Oracle installation, we logged in to the Admin Console and went through the setup, then logged out of the Admin Console, stopped WIldfire and re-started it. The startup resulted in:

No info.log or warn.log entries;

“Stopping server” as the last debug.log entry;

and the error.log file contained the following:

Subsequently, when attempting to browse the login page of the Admin Console at the newly-configured port number 9094 (http://devserver.myco.com:9094/login.jsp?url=%2Findex.jsp), we get a ‘‘connection refused’’ message.

Also, the database still shows username=admin, password=admin, encryptedpassword=NULL in the JIVEUSER table, even though we had changed the admin account’'s password during the setup.

Ok. So you went through the setup. You chose Oracle as your backend database? prior to that, would the server operate normally with the embedded database?

Can you post your config file?

Hi,

I see the same error (Tomcat + wildfire261.war + OracleXE) and can’'t access the admin interface any more.

I got the error (inserting NULL not possible, stack see below) but Wifi was running. I did stop Tomcat and cleaned the log files to see if Wifi can startup without error while using Oracle and it can’'t.

Using the embedded database I did not see this error but I restarted Tomcat a lot of times without any error opening the admin web page.

Jeff,

I never tried to operate Wildfire with the embedded database upon that installation.

Cannot post the config file, since we tore down that installation and reverted to 2.5.1 (project time constraints). Haven’'t tried 2.6.1 yet.

Thanks,

–Art

Hi Art,

don’'t try 2.6.1 with Oracle, it will not work.

LG

Art:

Cool, I see in another thread that it isn’'t a config issue anyways, something with the PUB tables not liking Oracle too much. Best of luck moving forward.
