A connection to the database could not be made. View the error message by opening the "\logs\error.log" log file, then go back to fix the problem

Hi, I am having a hell of a time trying to use the MSSQLEXPRESS database.

I am entering this in the web admin console

for the database URL

jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://MBSAPP01:1433/OpenFire;appName=jive

and the client URL

net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver

I have already created a domain user account that is able to login and manage the database that I have already created in the SQLEXPRESS instance. I am not a DBA and I am to the point of no return.

Here are the error logs, can someone help?

I even tried this for the database URL portion

jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://MBSAPP01:1433:/SQLEXPRESS;appName=OpenFire and this is the error log

by the way I installed it on another server SGMBSINFRAIM

The only time I was lucky was when I used MS SQL SERVER 2005 STD edition. Help?

you have to set your sql instance port from dynamic to something static. If its the only instance on the server, than you can use the default port of 1433. If its not the only sql instance, than you may want to use something else, like 2433.

then your connector setting should go like this

jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://SERVER_NAME:PORT#:/INSTANCE_NAME;appName=DATABASE_NAME

heres mine

jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://server1:2433:/sqlexpress;appName=openfire

Ok… i try to connect long time and this works for me:

jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://[servername]/[DBName];appName=jive;instance=[INSTANCE]

In my case:

jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://SPARK/openfire;appName=jive;instance=SQLEXPRESS

See ya!

jdbc:mysql://[hostname]:3306/[databasename]?rewriteBatchedStatements=true

change it to

jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/Openfire?rewriteBatchedStatements=true

instead of host name enter localhostname and instead of database name enter a databasename you are created.
