Alert: MSN Transport having login issues

Hi folk!

I’ve been made aware that the MSN transport is having issues allowing folk to log in. A fix is already being checked in for this into the underlying library we use, and I’ll aim to get a bug fix release out either today or tomorrow! Stay tuned!

Thanks Daniel, just discovered the problem this morning, then discovered your post after uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin - Doh !

One quick question, I run the old 1.2.2a version as the 1.2.3 version won’t run on my 3.4.5 version of openfire. Once you’ve sorted the problem is there any chance of a fixed older version ? Otherwise I guess it’s the kick I need to upgrade the Openfire install !

Thanks again

Thanks a lot at first!

Waiting for your great job

Hi! The MSN Transport is awesome!!! We adopted it as our default connection to the outside world in the company. So, we are now desperated to hear some news about its come back. I understand it´s difficult to get it done and that you are doing what you can, but our users are not so comprehensive and are driving me crazy.

Well, I wish you luck and that you may give us the good news in a short time.

Thanks for the excellent job.

Alex

Thanks Daniel. FYI it tanked somewhere around 2200 UTC yesterday (Aug 4). aMSN (Linux) can’t connect either, so you’re not alone. For some reason Pidgin still works.

Any updated on this, I have 50+ msn users that want to kick me around the building

=) I’m in the process of building the update right now actually.

Atta boy !

Ill take you to heaven, I hate msn junkies … theyre killing me

Mine have all been on Webmessenger today, oh am I popular !!

Regarding a fix for earlier versions that work with 3.4.5, yeah, I would recommend upgrading to a newer version of Openfire. You are also welcome to try upgrading the jml.jar file in plugins/gateway/lib to the latest version from java-jml.sf.net, but I make no guarantees that that will work. =)

All is working good now …

thanks for the prompt response, much appreciated

people love me again

Thanks, the upgrade works great.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the quick fix, and thanks for the jml.jar suggestion, I did as you suggested and it’s working fine so far ! I’ll report back if there are any problems, in case others need to try the same fix.

Hi

I was running 3.5.0 and applied IM 1.2.3a but I still get the same issue of the MSN service saying “You were disconnected from the MSN service.”

Thinking the new IM gateway would only work with 3.5.2 I upgraded Openfire but still the same issue.

What logs from the server posted here would help ?

Regards

Dan

I think you should uninstall previous ver first.

Delete the gateway.jar and gateway folder manually from /usr/local/openfire/plugins and try again.

Hope it helps.

Thanks but that didn’t resolve. I can run the ‘test’ in the gateway settings which is sucessful. I can run MSN client through the same proxy server successfully. The openfire server has unrestricted access to the internet via the proxy server.

This is the debug log. I’ve replaced my MSN login with mymsnlogin@hotmail.com

Daniel,

I realise this is a bit old but I’m getting the following on 1.2.4d on Openfire 3.6.0a. Account works fine in MSN Messenger. I’m on Mac OS X.

I don’t really have any idea where to go net on this?

Stefan

Any news by now ?

The issue referred to in this thread was fixed before 1.2.4 even came out. (was the last 1.2.3 release) Other login issues I have not been able to see or reproduce for myself. There is some SSL related issue going around which I’ve yet to see a good correlation as to what’s causing it. I just don’t have enough info to go on right now, especially since it’s not happening to me. =/

How can I be of assistance ?
