After installing the server on my computer (iMac running 10.4.10) I noticed that the Openfire server would always start when I rebooted the system regardless of how I had it configured in the preferences window. So if I deselect the checkbox for “Start Openfire When System Turns On” it will still start when I restart my computer.
I noticed that this button seems to edit the file /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.jivesoftware.openfire.plist
When the button is enabled, the file contains this key-value pair:
then the server will no longer start on boot. The preference pane application should be updated to edit the file accordingly.
