Anyone successfully setup openfire with Derby database?

hi guys,

I tried to search the forum but did not find answers. the Derby database and connection setup seems need some extra effort.

anybody can help please?

Hi,

http://www.igniterealtime.org/forum/thread.jspa?messageID=125099 contains an old script (wildfire db version 10 - so you need to update it) and an discussion about it. As there is no maintainer for this script you may need to create your own update scripts every time a new db version is used.

So it may help a lot to use a supported database version.

hi it2000,

thanks that helps.

I tried IBM DB2 sql script listed here: http://www.igniterealtime.org/builds/openfire/docs/latest/documentation/database .html

because I think Derby may inherent some DB2 features.

it seems working fine.

however, I’'m not sure if there are some hidden problems. will try and see.

hi,

found some excerpts from IBM book “Apache Derby Off to The Races”:

…One very strong feature of Apache Derby is that the SQL API is 100% compatible with DB2…

Does that mean my guess - that Derby Sql = DB2 sql - is correct?

however, that book was published back in 2005, don’'t know if it still holds true.

BR,
