Audit log (Char set / MySQL conversion)

I have created a script (php) to register all messages in MySQL database using just time, sender, destination and text variables.

Everything is working fine, but the audit log file isn’'t in a “char set” accordable to my system(jive) language.

Words written with “ê”, “é”, “á”, “ã” does not appear correctly in the mencioned log file.

How can I fixed it?
