Beta Launch?

Hi guys

I’‘ll be replacing our IT’‘s icb(IRC style chat room) with Jive Messenger. This deployment will also be a testing ground for IT staff to review the Jive Messenger. The setup does not have any fancy stuff yet. There is no LDAP, no solid authentication and no manual configuration of SSL connection yet. The server version is 2.2 running on linux Gentoo netboot box. I use MySql database, Jarkata Tomcat for JWChat which one of our dev has provided here. I use a recent release for MySql, Tomcat and java. I have provided gajim, exodus, Pandion, Miranda, Psi and Gush for the windows client. There won’'t be a linux client yet. So linux user will have to go with JWChat. The linux box has gaim installed but since it has issue with handling Admin commands, I will not use it. I have all the plugin installed other than the phone plugin. So guys, please wish me luck with my going Live for Beta Deployment.

Thx,

Let us know how it goes!

Dang!

I am afraid that things might go wrong because I have not configured it right when people start joining and using Jive. Man, my IT coworkers are really Tech savvy!!! They won’'t use it unless it is a text base client! Especially for *nix users, I can only give them JWChat option which is not a really robust client. I would appreciate if someone tell me where I can get the text base clients and how I can install it. (if possible locally)

Thx,

matt

The largest client list I’'m aware of is at http://www.jabber.org/software/clients.shtml
