I just installed the broadcast plugin. What makes me so tense is the broadcast plugin seems not working like it should be. This is my settings for this plugin. By the way, i have to manually insert the property name and property value in the Server Manager > System Properties.
plugin.broadcast.allowedUsers= my JID
plugin.broadcast.serviceName = broadcast
plugin.broadcast.disableGroupPermissions = false
plugin.broadcast.groupMembersAllowed = false
I also install the Client Control plugin. When i enable broadcasting in Client Management, then ALL users can broadcast EVEN i have set only me can send under the plugin.broadcast.allowedUsers
If i disable broadcasting under the Client Management, then all users cannot broadcast INCLUDING me, the administrator. Please help me to fix this problem
Spark has its own internal broadcasting (it just sends a bunch of a normal messages), which cant be controlled by the Broadcast plugin. The only option is Client Control plugin. Though, i think you are still able to send broadcasts, you just have to select users manuall while holding Ctrl, but you cant send to groups.
You can’t do this. Broadcast plugin’s restrictions only work if user is sending broadcasts via broadcast plugin, but most of the clients (including Spark) has their built-in broadcasting features which cant be controlled.
If you uninstall broadcast plugin and disable broadcasting in Spark you are still able to bradcast to All Online users via http://server:9090/user-message.jsp form.
what if i want to broadcast to certain users or groups?
You will have to program something custom for that.
by the way, i have disable broadcasting in client management, uninstall the broadcast plugin…when i use the http://server:9090/user-message.jsp
the message was sent successfully but when i ask users, they dont get anything.
Yes. Sorry. I havent tested this with Broadcasting disabled in Client Management. So it seems this option not even hides some of the broadcast options in Spark, but also blocks Spark from getting broadcasts.
