Buying new hardware

I’‘ve been asked to buy new hardware to setup a JiveMessenger based service, to ideally accomodate around ten-thousand* (non-concurrent) users. What kind of hardware (and configuration) would you guys suggest? I’'m looking for suggestions for both hardware (number of machines, processors, …) and architecture/configuration.

  • If that’'s feasable in the pre-Pampero era. Maybe my question could be better rephrased: what kind of hardware would give me a reasonable (max user/price) ratio?

Guus,

Dual-cpu with 2-4 GB of RAM is what I’'d recommend. Do you know how many of the 10K will be concurrent?

Regards,

Matt

(Very) roughly guessed: about a third to a half. Does that sound feasable?
