Cannot get Pidgin client to connect to Openfire 3.7.0

Openfire 3.7.0 using AD/LDAP.

Everything works fine using the Spark client on Centos, Ubuntu 11.04 and Windows 7, however I cannot get Pidgin 2.9.0 to login/connect, I get ‘‘Unable to connect’’. I’ve tried most things i can think of, is there something I’m missing?

I have closed port 5223 on the Openfire server as ‘‘tidy-up’’ process, as I’m going to use only secure.

Ok, update, it has just started to work, it just seemed to take around 5-10 minutes to authenticate - is this normal?

Spark authenticates instantly.

I love to know if you are seeing something similar to me:

If you are able to, can you have a look at the logs in Openfire and Pidgin and see?

Cheers,

Dave

Having read http://community.igniterealtime.org/message/215750#215750 , yes it is remarkably similar.

One thing I’ve noticed, and I’m not certain of this, but it appears to happen the first time the Pidgin client logs in, i.e. for the first time ever, subsequent logins are almost instant.
