I did a quick search and didn’'t find anything on this particular subject…
Is it possible to set Spark to automatically change your status to Away when a workstation is locked (ctrl-alt-del) on a Windows XP box?
Currently, it seems to wait for some pre-determined timeout and doesn’'t seem to register when the workstation is locked.
This is on Spark 1.1.4 on Windows XP SP2

it seems that SPARK-228 did not solve this problem completely, http://www.jivesoftware.org/community/thread.jspa?messageID=113972 is a discussion about it and I may quote Derek (developer) “The code I’‘m using to do that does seem a little flaky. I’'m looking into alternatives for a more consistent function to handle the locking of the workspace. Bare with me while I get this fixed” (17.5.2006)
