Connecting openfire with gaim

Hi all,

Can someone tell me how to connect to openfire using gaim on the same machine?I have succeeded with gabber but gaim gives me this message: ronald@xxx.xxx.x.xx/Home (jabber) disconnected not authorized.

If you have a <mechs> attribute in your openfire.xml, you need to add other authentication protocols to let gaim/pidgin connect. It should look more like: <mechs>GSSAPI,CRAM-MD5,DIGEST-MD5,PLAIN,EXTERNAL</mechs>.

Hey Ronald,

You might be hitting a known issue that was fixed for 3.4.0. The issue was JM-1145. Openfire 3.4.0 will be out by the end of this month.

this is not working for me, i am getting not authorized. i have Openfire 3.4.1 on a centos 5 box. trying to connect with Pidgin 2.2.2 from fedora 8.

A shot in the dark here, but are you using the correct case for your screen name. With openfire 3.4.1 and Gaim, the case matters.
