I’m interested in deploying OpenFire (including a couple of plugins) and was wondering if there is a package repository (i.e. Debian/apt) available.
Alternatively: Does anyone have an automatic upgrade mechanism implemented?

I don’t think there is an official package/repository as nobody wants to be a maintainer for it and we have limited human resources and experience in debian packaging here.

It seems like OpenFire at least checks for updates regularly and sends notifications accordingly. Still manual work, but it saves me to check the website myself every now and then.
Yes it does and we can actually see how many are still using super old versions like 2.x or even older
