Default settings don''t work?

I installed the Jive messenger on a FreeBSD server. I got JDK 1.5 running and everything seemed kosher. Going through the setup procedure I selected the default DB that comes with the messenger, and got the prompt to restart the service. I did that and this is the error log I am receiving…

2005.11.06 14:53:16 [org.jivesoftware.database.ConnectionPool.(ConnectionPool.java:108)] Failed to create new connections on startup. Attempt 0 of 3

java.sql.SQLException: The database is already in use by another process: org.hsqldb.persist.NIOLockFile@6ec529ee[file =/usr/home/vivisected/jive_messenger/em

bedded-db/messenger.lck, exists=false, locked=false, valid=false, fl =null]: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /usr/home/vivisected/jive_messenger/embedded-db/me

ssenger.lck (Permission denied)

That’'s the meat of it (the whole thing is really long). Any ideas?

vivisected:

wether your FreeBSD have other hsqldb service.you may close this hsqldb after you try it.or you try mysql database at jivemessnger backbone.

Hmmm… well I tried the beta 2.3 version of Jive and presto! It works!
