Error on Set Up

I’m trying to install Openfire 3.6.2 but am continually receiving the error below at the last stage of the installation. I am using LDAP to authenticate and the installation process goes well until the step where I am asked to create admin users. I create an admin user for myself then click to continue and receive this error. This results in an otherwise successful installation but no admin users so no-one can log in to administer the server. Any assistance much appreciated.

Ian

Did you test the LDAP settings at every step? Are you using a valid LDAP user account for one of the admins of the server?

Todd,

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have tested LDAP at every step. There is absolutely no problem with authentication via LDAP. Even when I’m adding the admin users, it allows me to add the names and I can test them successfully so they are valid users. It’s just that when I hit continue, I get the error I pasted. Thanks, Ian.

Are you trying to link this to clearspace?

I had been coupled with Clearspace but due to problems with licensing, I changed Openfire to stand alone.

Your error is a clearspace connection error. are you starting with a fresh database?

Hi, No I haven’t used a fresh database so you may be correct. However, given that users have set up their rosters etc, I would rather avoid forcing everyone to recreate their friends list all over again as they had to do this already after the Clearspace decoupling. Is there any database change I can make to get round this issue rather than have a new database? Your help appreciated.

Depending on your database you could do a backup of the specific tables you wish to maintain, such as the ofvcard, ofroster, etc. In actuality most of the tables could be kept with the exception of ofproperties ans ofuser.

Todd, I deleted the two tables you mentioned, re-ran the set-up and all is ok now. I appreciate the help you have given me today - many thanks. Ian.
