Feature Request: JEP-0027: OpenPGP Support

Hi,

the SSL/TLS encryption is only between the user and his or her server. Most server talk to each other unencryped. And all servers, the message is passed through, are able to see the clear text.

JEP-27 describes a way to encrypt a message from one user to another without it being decrypted during transmission.

JBother (which is based on smack) currently supports GPG. You could take a look at the code in there.

nhb,

There’‘s a lot of active work at jabber.org to define a new end to end encryption mechanism. Once that settles out, we’‘ll likely officially support what they come up with. JEP-0027 probably won’'t be widely adopted going forward.

Regards,

Matt
