Federation with Google Talk services

Hello everybody,

First of all I have to thank Ignite/Jive for the amazing Openfire software we simply love it.

However, there is one small thing i dont really understand yet. It says everywhere you can open up federations with other jabber services.

I tried to do this with google talk services but it doesnt seem to work at all.

So, a few questions:

  1. is the DNS SRV records a must for this to work? and if so, did i set this correct?

_xmpp-server._tcp.im.techconnect.nl. IN SRV 5 0 5269 im.techconnect.nl.
_jabber._tcp.im.techconnect.nl. IN SRV 5 0 5269 im.techconnect.nl.

the IM server is on im.techconnect.nl therefor i thought this would be the right SRV records, is that correct?

  1. If this is not needed, then what am i missing? The server is directly on the net without any ports blocked.

Hope someone can help me cause i really wanna get this to work.

Thank you,

Michiel

Anyone?

In your SRV records, did you try xmpp-server._tcp.techconnect.nl (removing the IM portion).

This seems to work in my scenario with GoogleTalk.

Now, if only I could get the XMPP domain on the actual server to be techconnect.nl instead of im.techconnect.nl!!! (Replace your techconnect.nl with my domain name.)
