does anybody know if it’s possible to use a dictionary in another language than English (e.g. German)? I could not find anything about that here.

I think currently spelling-plugin supports only English dictionary.
The current dictionary in Spark is currently commercial, perhaps an alternate could be found to allow other languages. But at the moment i see very little chance for this being implemented any time soon.

you likely need to sponsor Igniterealtime to make them buy and add the German dictionary to Spark. Contact @Matt Tucker if you like to do this.
