I’m very much in need of a feature for the Fastchat plugin to support concurrent connections to more than one workgroup. I’d be happy to try to work on it on my own, but being somewhat hopeless with GUI development in Java in general, and very raw with XMPP, and spark development, I’m not really sure where to start. Would a more seasoned developer be willing to point me in the right direction to get started?

I understand your issue. IMHO the best way would be to hire a giood java developer (e.g. a senior student) and let him/her go through the code of Openfire and Spark. This will take a couple of weeks (I’ve done that) and let them work their way through the code. This will probably take 3 to 6 months of effort. The last student who has worked on a similar issue needed that time. Alternativly, you can hire a senior developer for that time. He/she should be able to work effectively after 1 month.
