How can I judge the XMPP protocol available?

If I install the Spark client, I can use XMPP:JID to open chat to other, but if not, I can’t. thus, I want to have a tooltip to mention users to download the Spark client. Then , the problem is, How can I judge the XMPP protocol available? Please tell me, thank you!
