Hello looking to add an internal IM program for our company. the reviews keep pointing to this site. Security is a big concern to us.
Once the Openfire server has been set up does it communicate at all outside our network?
its pretty secure, but it does check the website for updates and an rss feed. rss feed can be disabled, but I’m not sure about checking for updates…although this can be blocked using a firewall.
One can also disable update checks (Server Settings > Manage Updates).
To disable rss add system property rss.enabled with a value false

Admin Console > System Properties
At the bottom of this page add new property with a Property Name rss.enabled and Property Value false, then save it.
