How to backup OpenFire server?

Hi,

I would like to know how to backup openfire server.

I am using OpenFire server ver. 3.6.3 installed in a Windows server 2003 on a regulat desktop machine. We are currently on the anual year-end backup and maintenance job and i am hoping to know if what is the best way to backup the openfire server.

I hope anyone can help me this.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Mikee

backup openfire’s database and openfire.xml

it depends on the type of database you are using. If you are using an external db then use its backup system to make a db backup. Then stop the server and backup the entire openfire folder. If using the embedded db, stop openfire and backup the entire openfire folder.

Todd, in addition to that?..What would be the best way to restore openfire in a disaster ocurrs?..I mean…could you explain it…step by step…(this is really a great post to many people)

Again depends on the database used.

External db:

  • Reinstall db engine
  • restore db from backup file
  • reinstall same exact version of openfire
  • replace installed openfire directory with the backup directory
  • start openfire

Embedded db

  • reinstall same exact version of openfire
  • replace installed openfire directory with the backup directory
  • start openfire

Thanks so much indeed!

Thank you very much guys!

I really appreciate all your replies to my post.

I bet that more convesations from us will be very helful.

Thank you!
